Is the focus of Data Science and AI Department more on Deployment of AI in different fields or more on research of AI/ML algorithms.

I see very less courses of mathematics in AI/ML course.

Hi Rohit,

The Wadhwani School of AI and Data Science aims to enable close collaboration between domain experts and AI researchers to enable solutions that integrate AI with existing domain knowledge and approaches. The programs offered will instill a primary focus on data-driven problem-solving and transdisciplinary design in students.

Most of the machine learning courses offered at IITM cover the mathematics behind machine learning algorithms, and the curriculum has courses to help students solidify their linear algebra, probability, and statistics fundamentals so that they can understand the more advanced mathematics behind machine learning algorithms.
