What is the Anti-Ragging Affidavit Format of IIT Madras?

The anti-ragging affidavit at IIT Madras follows the UGC-prescribed format. It is an online undertaking that must be filled out separately by both the student and the parent/guardian through the official UGC Anti-Ragging portal: antiragging.in.

The affidavit includes:

  • Student’s full name, admission/roll number, and course details

  • A declaration that the student has read and understood the anti-ragging rules

  • Acknowledgement of what constitutes ragging and its punishments

  • A promise not to indulge in or abet ragging

  • Place, date, and signatures of both the student and the parent/guardian

After filling the online form, the portal generates a PDF affidavit with a unique reference number, which must be printed and signed.

Do I Need a Stamp Paper from Court?

No. You do not need to bring a stamp paper or get the affidavit notarized from a court.

The process is entirely online and self-attested:

  1. Fill out the student and parent affidavits on the UGC Anti-Ragging Portal.

  2. Download and print the generated PDFs.

  3. Sign them and submit/upload as instructed during admission at IIT Madras.

That’s all. A self-signed copy from the portal is sufficient—no court-issued, stamped, or notarized affidavit is required.
