Hey , as IITM has announced Bs in Chemistry admission via IAT ! I am curious about whether IDDD is available for Bs in Chemistry . Or How to convert this BS degree into M-Tech degree at IITM ?
IT Madras has now opened up admissions to its BS in Chemistry through the IAT, and a lot of students are wondering if this degree can lead to higher studies within the institute. As of now, IDDD is offered only to on-campus BTech students, and not for those in the online BS programs, including BS Chemistry.
But that doesn’t mean your journey ends there! If you’re aiming for an MTech at IITM, you can absolutely get there through the GATE route. Once you complete the BS degree and qualify in the GATE exam (in Chemistry or a related paper), you can apply for MTech programs through COAP, and IITM does accept applications from BS grads, provided you meet the eligibility criteria.
And if you’re research-inclined, you’ve got another excellent path—MS by Research or even a PhD. Strong grades, a solid SOP, and good recommendations can open those doors. The BS in Chemistry is built to give you the fundamentals you need, and the rest is about how you steer your path. IITM gives you the platform; what you build on it is up to you.
