After completing the B Tech ( Smart Manufacturing ) from IITDM will I be eligible to take up Ph D on Engineering Design from IIT Madras, if yes, what are the pre-requisites / procedure to apply and take up Ph D in Engineering Design from IIT Madras.

Completing a B.Tech in Smart Manufacturing from IIITDM Jabalpur can make you eligible to apply for a Ph.D. in Engineering Design at IIT Madras, but you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Educational Qualifications:
  • While a Master’s degree (M.Tech or equivalent) in a relevant field is generally required for Ph.D. admission at IIT Madras, exceptional candidates with a B.Tech degree may be considered for direct admission to the Ph.D. program if they meet specific requirements.
  1. Minimum Academic Performance:
  • A minimum CGPA of 8.0 on a 10-point scale is usually needed for candidates transitioning from M.Tech to Ph.D. This standard may also apply to direct Ph.D. applicants.
  1. Entrance Exams:
  • Candidates are often expected to have cleared national-level exams such as GATE or UGC-NET/JRF, which can strengthen your application, particularly if applying directly after B.Tech.
