Can IITM BS students attend saarang and festivals like holi, diwali on campus?
If you’re a BS student at IIT Madras, you might be wondering whether you can join in Saarang, Holi, Diwali, or the other big festivals on campus. Here’s how it works:
Campus Festivals (Saarang, Holi, Diwali, Shaastra, etc.)
These flagship events are mainly for students who live on campus and hold the regular IITM student ID. Since BS students don’t have day-to-day campus access or hostel life, they don’t automatically get to attend these festivals as internal IITM participants.
For Saarang specifically:
-
BS students can’t register as “internal” participants or take up organizer/volunteer roles.
-
But if a Saarang event is open to all college students in India, you’re welcome to join as an “external participant”—just like students from other colleges.
A Festival Just for BS Students
The good news is that IITM has something special designed just for you: Paradox.
-
It’s a multi-day techno-cultural-sports fest exclusively for the BS program.
-
Held right on the IITM campus every year, Paradox brings together students from across the country to celebrate, compete, and experience campus life.
-
Think music, sports, cultural nights, and a chance to meet your peers face-to-face—it’s a true festival of the BS community.
In short:
-
You won’t usually be part of Saarang, Holi, or Diwali on campus as an “internal IITM student.”
-
You may join some Saarang events as an external participant.
-
And most importantly—you have Paradox, your very own annual celebration at IIT Madras, created to give BS students the same joy of fest life, in your own space.
