Few doubts regarding the BS programme in Medical Science and engineering

  1. I have heard that the total number of credits for B.Tech have been reduced to 400. Is this also the case with BS Medical Science and engineering(MSE) ?
  2. I have also heard that the sixth semester will be fully aligned to only electives for the new batches. Is this also the case with BS MSE?
  3. Can students of BS MSE do minors and electives from other departments like CSE?
  4. Can students of MSE also apply for IDDD in Data Science?

  1. The total number of credits for BS in Medical Science and Engineering is 438. You can read the full curriculum here.
  2. Since this is not a B.Tech. program, the program doesn’t have an elective-only semester, but the students can take electives along with their core courses.
  3. Yes, the students can take electives and pursue minors in other departments, provided they meet the requirements. You can read more about minors at IITM here.
  4. The department is open to supporting students who want to pursue an IDDD.
